More lies

On Today this morning, Tony Abbott asked Julia Gillard whether she had received a copy of the Auditor-General’s report on BER. She replied that at law she could not answer that question. “I’m explaining to you the laws of the nation Tony so maybe you should look them up”. He did not want to know the detail of the report simply whether she had received a copy of it.

I thought her answer made little sense and checked the Auditor-General Act. Sure enough, she lied. She can not (s.36) disclose any information in the report without the consent of the Auditor-General but there was nothing to prevent her answering the simple question asked.

At what point do we simply refuse to accept our public officials deliberately lying to the public and actually hold them to account? It is disgusting.
