Rudd, yesterday’s man – Part 2

April 24, 2010

Strewth! editor James Jeffrey is on the case.

One thing you can say about 3AW broadcaster Neil Mitchell is you don’t have to waste time puzzling out the true meaning of his utterances. Here he is in action yesterday, reflecting on his on-air chat with Kevin Rudd:

“I think that interview on Wednesday was one of the most extraordinary I have conducted with the Prime Minister. It didn’t matter what I asked him, he just said what he wanted to and it was gobbledy-gook designed to hide the fact that this whole health – alleged reform – is not reform”.

But wait, there’s more.

“Look, I don’t say it lightly, but I think by any sensible definition that Kevin Rudd should be finished. The Rudd government should be in its last days. If it was not a first-term government it may well be over. What’s happening now reminds me of the last days of the Whitlam government. Incompetence piled on stuff-up. The difference here is that the sophistication of the spin from the government makes it damn near dishonest”.

Cripes, sounds like a cracker. Having been so remiss as to miss the interview, we did the normal thing and made a beeline for Rudd’s prime ministerial website, where all the transcripts are dried and pinned up like butterflies. Except this one, of which there’s not a trace. At least the PM’s office hides stuff better than the Melbourne Storm managed to do.

Hilarious! I’ve double-checked the transcripts on Rudd’s website – still no sign!

Rudd has been an absolute joke. He has not delivered on so many of his promises that I’ve lost count. On top of this any policies and schemes that he has implemented have been an absolute botch (insulation, school buildings, etc). The whole health reform plan stinks of a rush job to gain political points and I’m sure it will also be a disaster. He really needs to go but I fear that the majority are either too blind or still happy with Krudd for the $900 they got (which us and future generations will be left paying back) that he will get voted back in again and do much more damage to our great country.
