Labor thinks Tony should form government!

August 30, 2010

During this rather unseemly tussle for the hearts and minds of the independents, the Labor party have reasoned that they should be able to form government because they had the greater number of votes after preferences.

Tony can now thank La Guillotine for her endorsement as the Coalition have now taken the lead in the preferred vote count . . .

Australian Labor Party 5,342,795
Liberal/National Coalition 5,344,641

There is now not a single measure by which the independents could justify putting Labor into power (thanks AB):

Tony Abbott’s Coalition:

– won the most votes
– won the most seats, 73 to 72
– won the most votes, after preferences
– won the most support in the three independents’ seats, as measured by the Senate vote
– won the most support in the three independents’ seats, as measured by two polls since the election.
